Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Visconti Forbidden City Vermeil Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with its Visconti presentation box (including outer - some wear to this and some small marks to the main box), identity card and information leaflet. The pen has never been inked and is presented in virtually as new condition. This was a limited edition of only 888 pens and this is number 291.
The Forbidden City is an exceptionally detailed pen, with this version being crafted from a pearlised blue resin overlay. The base is sterling silver, with some elements having a vermeil (gold-plating over silver) finish. The blue resin 'cage' was chosen to represent the sense of isolation of the Forbidden City... built between 1406-1420 by the Ming Dynasty's Yongle Emperor, it served as a home for 24 Emperor's over a 500 year period. The small details are minituarised versions of those found in the city, with the most impressive being the Dragon found sitting inside a cage at the end of the barrel.
The pen features a power filler system, so your choice here is bottled ink. It's fitted with an 18k fine nib.
