Thanks for looking at our listing for this Stipula Giovanni da Verrazzano Celluloid Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with its locakable Stipula presentation box (including outer), key and information booklet. The pen has been lightly used and is presented in overall excellent condition - the trim ring found on the middle of the barrel can be turned, but it makes no difference to the usage of the pen. Only 1524 were produced and this is number 204 - this number was chosen as a nod to the year that New York's bay was discovered.
Released to celebrate the Florentine navigator, Giovanni da Verrazzano, who's journeys begun the centuries-old affiliation between Florence and New York. The pen is crafted from a glorious celluloid, which has blue and grey tones, to reflect the ocean that he sailed across. Sitting atop the cap is a crystal, a symbol representing the Polar Star.
The pen has a retractable nib design, so the cap is unscrewed and then reattached to the cone of the pen. When the cone and barrel are turned, this then reveals or hides the nib. When revealed, the centre of the nib is about 1-2cm misaligned from the clip - this is a very small point, but we simply mention it for a complete description.
The pen is fitted with an 18k 0.9 stub nib and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
