Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Sailor Shi Rei 2nd Series Ishikawa Kaga-nuri Fountain Pen, which comes with its wooden Sailor presentation box (including outer), cartridges and information leaflets. The pen has barely been used and is presented in wonderful condition.
From the 2nd series of 'Rei' fountain pens, this is the Ishikawa Kaga-nuri which has a deep red urushi finish with black streaks. The barrel and cap are crafted from ebonite and the lacquered finish is created by the artist, Isana Kobayashi. It's created using the Kaga-nuri gradation technique - so black lacquer is applied first, with the vermilion lacquer then applied on top. Some of the black shows through, which is supposed to mimic the appearance of wear.
The pen is a cartridge / converter (supplied), so you have the best of both worlds. It's fitted with a 21k hard medium (H-M) nib.
