Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this legendary Pilot / Namiki First Edition 'Emperor' Black Urushi Lacquer Fountain Pen, which comes with its wooden presentation box (including outer), eye-dropper, and information booklets. The pen has barely been used and is presented in virtually as new condition.
The Namiki Emperor is a monumental pen, both in size and reputation. This Pilot branded example, was produced in the 1990's, and was the precursor to the current 'Emperor'. The most noticeable difference is the nib imprint, which unlike the modern pens with their Mt. Fuji engraving, have Pilot branding and is 14k rather than 18k. These earlier pens rarely appear for sale and are an absolute delight!
The pen is crafted from ebonite, which then has multiple layers of urushi lacquer applied. The final stage utilises a technique called Roiro Urushi Siage, to give the pen its lustrous, deep finish.
The pen is fitted with a huge #50 14k broad nib and it’s an eye-dropper, so your choice here is bottled ink.
The important details are as follows…
– Virtually As New Condition
– Broad Nib
– Namiki Presentation Box
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller.
