Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this wonderful Omas 360 Imagination Sterling Silver Limited Edition Rollerball Pen, which comes with its wooden OMAS presentation box. The pen has been carefully used and is presented in excellent condition. The original owner (a long term OMAS collector) advised us that this was a pre-production model, hence the lack of limitation number on the section).
OMAS require no introduction and since their sad demise in January 2016, the hunger from fans and collectors for great examples of their writing instruments has increased dramatically! The company was founded by Armando Simoni and the full name was Officina Meccanica Armando Simoni, abbreviated to OMAS.
The 360 was arguably their most recognisable pens, with its dramatic triangular design. This Imagination limited edition was released in 2005, when the UN declared it to be the International Year of Physics... also the 100th anniversary of what is referred to as Einstein's 'Miraculous Year', when he wrote papers on the theory of relativity, quantum theory and Brownian motion.
The pen is crafted from sterling silver and has a real heft to it - it weighs 137gms with the cap attached and 90g without. The three sides are engraved with the formulas for Quantum theory, Superstring theory and the Theory of Restricted Relativity. A deep blue enamel line runs along the length of the pen, which is a nod to the journey of humanity from the Earth to space.
The pen is fitted with a new Schmidt refill.
