Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Writers Edition Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Fountain Pen, which comes with its large Montblanc presentation box (including outers) and booklet – confirming first purchase in August 2023. The pen has never been used and is presented in essentially as new condition. Only 9000 were produced and this is number 3287 - the stickers on the outer box are a mismatch and say 4299.
Launched in 2021, as the yearly offering from the Montblanc Writers Edition, the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is finished in a delightful blue-grey resin, with the trim being ruthenium-coated.
The colour-scheme was chosen to reflect the foggy atmosphere of London. The plaid pattern on the cap and barrel are a reference to Sherlock Holmes coat, along with parts of a historical London map. The initials JB are found between the magnifying glass shaped clip, a homage to Joseph Bell, the real man behind the Sherlock Holmes character.
The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it's a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
