Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc George Bernard Shaw Writers Edition Mechanical Pencil, which comes with a standard Montblanc presentation box (including outer) and unstamped booklet. The pencil has barely been used (if at all!) and is presented in virtually as new condition. Only 4000 were produced and this is number 02743.
Every year Montblanc honour a great literary figure, as part of their writers limited edition. In 2008 it was George Bernard Shaw, the Irish freethinker. The design is inspired by the character Eliza Doolittle from his most famous play Pygmalion. Just as Eliza, a poor flower girl, is brought up to be an aristocratic lady, so the platinum trim on the pencil is replaced more and more towards the cap by the opulent dark green of the precious resin.
The beautiful deep marbled green represents the lush fields that Shaw left behind in Ireland. This is one of the most eye-catching of all the Writers Editions and will be a fine addition to any collection.
The pencil is fitted with 0.7mm leads and unused eraser.
