Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc George Bernard Shaw Writers Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with its Montblanc presentation box (including outers) and unstamped booklet. The pen was originally part of a set, hence the larger presentation box. It has barely been used and is presented in virtually as new condition - the M sticker, denoting a medium nib, remains on the cone. Only 16000 were produced and this is number 02743.
Every year Montblanc honour a great literary figure, as part of their writers limited edition. In 2008 it was George Bernard Shaw, the Irish freethinker. The set is inspired by the character Eliza Doolittle from his most famous play Pygmalion. Just as Eliza, a poor flower girl, is brought up to be an aristocratic lady, so the platinum trim on the pen is replaced more and more towards the cap by the opulent dark green of the precious resin.
The beautiful deep marbled green represents the lush fields that Shaw left behind in Ireland. This is one of the most eye-catching of all the Writers Editions and will be a fine addition to any collection.
The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it's a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
