Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Patron of Art 4810 Marquis de Pompadour Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with it’s presentation box (including outers) and booklet. The pen has never been inked and is presented in wonderful condition. Only 4810 were produced and this is number 4706. The original medium nib, as denoted by the M sticker on the cap, appears to have been changed to a fine at some point (likely at the point of initial purchase).
In 2001, Montblanc honoured the legendary mistress of King Louis XIV, the Marquise de Pompadour. The design of the pen takes its inspiration from life at the Palace of Versailles. The Marquise was a renowned figure and also a passionate lover of art, supporting names such as Voltaire and Mozart.
The gold-plated barrel and trim represents the luxury of court life. The cap is crafted from Meissen porcelain and decorated with a hand-painted, sepia-tones rose, finished in gold. This recalls the Marquise’s love of porcelain and also her favourite flower.
The 18k fine nib has a rococo style engraving and the pen is a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
