Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Patron of Art 4810 Semiramis Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with its Montblanc presentation box (including outers) and booklet - the back page has been removed. The pen has been carefully used and is presented in excellent condition. As with other POA pens, only 4810 were produced and this is number 3499.
In 1996, Montblanc honoured Queen Semiramis, who united the two countries of Babylon and Assyria. Semiramis was renowned for her love of the arts and was the patron of Nabu, the tutelary deity of the scribes. She built a number of palaces and monuments, including the Gate of Ishtar and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
The base of the pen is black resin, over which sits an intricate gold-plated fretwork, featuring red enamel elements.
The 18k medium nib (slightly on the finer side) engravings refer to her great era and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
