Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this rare Montblanc Meisterstück 147 Traveller Silver Pinstripe Fountain Pen, which comes with its large Montblanc presentation box (including outer), leather Traveller pouch, polishing cloth and stamped service guide - confirming first purchase on 9th October 1998. The pen has been carefully used and is presented in overall excellent condition.
This particular pen is the pinstripe version, with both the cap and barrel being produced from AG925 Sterling Silver - which is then engraved with an intricate pinstripe pattern. These earlier style Solitaire pens are absolutely beautiful and have a level of detail that you simply don't find on their modern counterparts. The Traveller version of the Pinstripe Solitaire is a rare creature, with the piston filling LeGrand version being the one that mostly appears for sale.
The 147 Traveller, if you're not familiar with it, is a LeGrand (146) sized fountain pen, but the filling system is cartridge only. It's a very clever design, as to load the cartridges you simply unscrew the end of the pen, which then reveals an internal metal holding cage, where you can then slot in the cartridges.
The pen is fitted with an 18k oblique double broad nib.
