Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 LeGrand Barley Sterling Silver Fountain Pen, which comes with an IZODS presentation box. The pen has been carefully used over the years and is presented in overall excellent condition - there is a small 'ding' on the cap, shown in the photos.

The pen is crafted from sterling silver and it is engraved with a delicate barley pattern. The trim is gold-plated. This example is interesting for several reasons... it has several lovely transitional features, with it having the older style solid ink window and split ebonite feed, but the current bi-tone nib. It's an easy pen to date as it has the first-generation serial number (shorter and in a different font) along with W.Germany clip ring markings, which confirms this as around 1991. The other interesting feature is that it doesn't have any 925 hallmarks - this was checked with Montblanc, who confirmed that for certain markets the hallmark wasn't applied on earlier pens. To make production simpler, on later pens, they simply hallmarked all examples as then they were applicable for sale in all locations.

The 146 is a piston filling pen, which means that bottled ink is your choice here. It's fitted with an 18k bi-tone medium nib.

The important details are as follows...

- Excellent Condition (small ding on the cap)

- Medium Nib

- IZODS Presentation Box
