Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this delightful Montblanc Great Characters Homage to The Great Gatsby Limited Edition 1925 Fountain Pen, which comes with its large Montblanc presentation box (including outers) and stamped booklet - confirming first purchase on 27th January 2025. The pen has never been used and is presented in as new condition - the protective tape remains on the section. Onlt 1925 were created and this is number 1259.
The Great Characters series has seen many famous names and faces honoured and The Great Gatsby is the latest release. Taking its inspiration from F.Scott Fitzgerald's novel of the same name, which was first published in 1925 (hence the number created).
The main character Jay Gatsby, was a mysterious millionaire, who wanted to regain the affections of Daisy Buchanan. The pinstripe design of the cap is created using black and white lacquer, with the barrel being finished in black lacquer. The design of the hip flasks from the Art Deco era is reflected in the cone, which imitates the screw cap of the flask, with the coloured rings being a nod to the American glag. The clip is shaped like a money clip and Jay Gatsby's initials are represented in a gold-coated rhomboidal design.
Sitting atop the cap is a huge mother-of-pearl Montblanc snowcap emblem.
The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it's a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
