Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this outstanding Montblanc Great Characters Leonardo da Vinci 3000 Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with a standard Montblanc presentation box. The pen has been carefully used and is presented in lovely condition - there are a couple of tiny marks on the nib (shown in the photos), but these don't affect the writing experience. Only 3000 examples were produced and this is number 2470.
The Great Characters series has seen many famous names honoured by Montblanc and the Leonardo da Vinci is arguably the most exciting, in terms of design. The cap and barrel have an anodised finish, with the trim being platinum-plated. The design of the pen takes its inspiration from Leonardo’s original sketches of flying machines and mechanical items. For instance the wedge shape recalls his method of connecting mechanical parts. The gear decorations are a nod to his numerous designs that we driven by gears. The grip section has an engraving of a wing, in recognition of his passion for flying beasts. One of the most interesting features is the mirror in the cap-top, where you can see the Montblanc snowcap, and this is a reference to his fascination with mirror studies.
The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it's a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
