Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Conway Stewart The Turing-Welchman Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with its Conway Stewart presentation box (including outer), certificate and booklet. The pen has been lightly used and is presented in overall excellent condition. Only 211 were produced and this is number 52.
The pen celebrates the Turing-Welchman Bombe machine, which was used to break Enigma-enchipered messages during the Second World War. The first machine, known as 'Victory', started code breaking on 14th March 1940. The cap top is crafted from sterling silver, which is etched with the 26 letters of the alphabet. The end of the barrel can be unscrewed to reveal a hidden compartment, where a message can be kept.
The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it’s a cartridge / converter (supplied), so you have the best of both worlds when it comes to ink.
