Description
Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this wonderful Montblanc Imperial Dragon 888 Solid Gold Fountain Pen, which comes with its Montblanc presentation box (including outer) and information booklet – confirming first purchase on 26th February 1994. The pen has never been used and is presented in essentially as new condition – the M sticker, denoting a medium nib, remains on the barrel. Only 888 examples were produced and this is number 028 (a fantastic low number!)
Launched in 1993, the Imperial Dragon is a pen that some consider part of the Writers Edition series, but in truth it was an ‘additional’ pen created on the back of the lack of success for the Agatha Christie in Asian markets, due to the use of the snake clip. So Montblanc spun out a new version, called the Imperial Dragon, and this is the extremely rare 888 edition. The Dragon clip and ring are crafted from solid 750 gold and the eyes of the dragon are set with sapphires.
Because the dragon was longer than the snake used on the Agatha Christie, the length of the cap was increased to accommodate it.
The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.

As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
