Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this wonderful Montblanc Imperial Dragon Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with its Montblanc presentation box (including outer – a little wear to this) and stamped booklets – 24th April 1996 – the marking on the paperwork of 17642 comes from the label on the box. Only 5000 were produced (including sets) and this one is number 1392. The pen has barely been used and is presented in wonderful overall condition – the hinge on the presentation box is partially broken, but it does stay open and shut.

Launched in 1993, the Imperial Dragon is a pen that some consider part of the Writers Edition series, but in truth it was an ‘additional’ pen created on the back of the lack of success for the Agatha Christie in Asian markets, due to the use of the snake clip. So Montblanc spun out a new version, called the Imperial Dragon, which was only available in Asia and featured a stunning sterling silver dragon clip, with ruby eyes. Because the dragon was longer than the snake used on the Agatha Christie, the length of the cap was increased to accommodate it.

These are now very rare and particularly sought after from fans and collectors alike.

The pen is fitted with an 18k broad nib (this was swapped by the original owner, from a medium), which continues the dragon theme and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
