Description
Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this wonderful Montblanc Writers Edition Alexandre Dumas (Father) Limited Edition Mechanical Pencil, which comes with its Montblanc presentation box (including outer) and information booklet. The pencil has been lightly used and is presented in overall excellent condition. Only 9000 were produced and this is number 1604. Interestingly the pencil and the presentation box are of the ‘Father’s’ signature, the booklet is the ‘sons’ but our assumption is that the original supplying retailer simply still had the ‘son’ booklet to hand and used the wrong one.
Launched in 1996, as the yearly offering from the Montblanc Writers Edition, the Alexandre Dumas is one of the most famous offerings from the WE series… do you know why? Because originally the writing instruments were released with the wrong signature – that of Dumas’ son, rather than his own signature. Montblanc then hurriedly tried to recall them and reissued them with the correct signature… this one is a ‘correct’ signature pencil! These are easily identified, as the limitation number has an N at the end of it.
Alexandre Dumas was one of the most famous novelists and playwrights of the 19th Century. He wrote more than 300 novels, with two of the most recognisable being “The Three Musketeers” and “The Count of Monte Cristo”.
In our opinion, this is one of the most richly detailed of all the Writers Editions, with the shimmering barrel and cap offering a wonderful contrast to the almost dark brown resin. The gold trim works perfectly and the distinct sword shaped clip, makes this such a handsome writing instrument.
The pen is fitted with 0.7mm leads.

With every pencil that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
