Description
Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Patron of Art 4810 Peggy Guggenheim Fountain Pen, which comes with its lacquered presentation box (including outers) and booklet. As with other POA pens, only 4810 were produced and this is number 0717. The pen has never been used and is presented in essentially as new condition – the protective tape remains on the section. There are a few light marks on the presentation box.
In 2016, Montblanc honoured the influental collector and exhibitor of contemporary art, Peggy Guggenheim. Artists including Dali, Picasso and Jackson Pollock owe their early success to her.
Guggenheim spent much of her life in Europe, acquiring the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni on the Grand Canal in Venice in 1948. Not only did it become her home, but also featured rooms to showcase her collection. The building is now a public museum and she was laid to rest in the garden, next to her 14 Lhasa Apso dogs. The design of the clip and cap, along with the shapes and lines of the black lacquer inlays are inspired by Art Deco works in her collection. The red spiral cone design is a nod to the striped mooring poles that line the Venetian waterways.
The cap ring features embossed lion’s heads, which refer both to her palace and the the lion of St Mark, the symbol of Venice.
The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib (engraved with a paw print) and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.

With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
