Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Nakaya Dorsal Fin 1 Ishime Kanshitsu Kuro Tamenuri Fountain Pen, which comes with its wooden presentation box (including outer) and pen kimono. The pen has never been used and is presented in as new condition.

 

 

 

Nakaya require no introduction and if you’ve got this far then likely you’ll be familiar with their wonderful writing instruments. The Dorsal Fin 1 is a legendary model and rightly so, with its distinctive finned cap also acting as a roll stopper.

 

 

 

 

Ishime Kanshitsu Kuro-tamenuri uses ‘Shu’ or Vermillion lacquer as a base colour, with dry black urushi powder then applied. The texturised finish is extremely tactile and the term ‘Ishime’ related to the special technique that creates the stone like texture. The production time for this model is more than six months from start-to-finish.

 

 

 

 

The pen is fitted with a 14k soft medium nib and it’s a cartridge / converter pen, so your choice here is bottled ink.
