Ishime-Kanshitsu Midori is a fascinating finish. Turned from solid ebonite stock, it's then has multiple layers of urushi lacquer applied. To create the textured effect, urushi powder is sprinkled on to the surface, whch once dried is then varnished with several further layers of lacquer to harden the finish. The grains are then sharpened with charcoal and finished with a silver lacquer. The workmanship has to be seen to be truly appreciated.
