The trim is gold-plated. This example is interesting for several reasons... it has several lovely transitional features, with it having the older style solid ink window and split ebonite feed, but the current bi-tone nib. It's an easy pen to date as it has the first-generation serial number (shorter and in a different font) along with W.Germany clip ring markings, which confirms this as around 1991. The other interesting feature is that it doesn't have any 925 hallmarks - this was checked with Montblanc, who confirmed that for certain markets the hallmark wasn't applied on earlier pens.
