Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this glorious Sailor King of Pen Wabi Sabi Red 1st Edition LE88 Fountain Pen, which comes with its Sailor presentation box (including outer), pen kimono and information leaflets. The pen still remains sealed and as such is presented in new condition – the box was only unsealed to take photos. Only 88 were created and this is number 74.
This pen is from the first edition of the Wabi Sabi series. Designed by Urushi artish, Wayo Shimamori, they’re created using the ‘Irogasana Sabinuri’ technique. Wabi-sabi is a Japanese concept which encourages people to accept and appreciate imperfection and to live a simple life.
The barrel and cap are crafted from ebonite, which is then coated in an Urushi lacquer. The ‘Irogasana Sabinuri’ technique involves kneading rust with raw lacquer, polishing powder and water, which when applied creates the rougher texture – but when combined with smooth elements, it perfectly encapsulates the concept of Wabi-Sabi.
The pen is fitted with a 21k medium nib and it’s a cartridge / converter (supplied), so you have the best of both worlds, when it comes to ink.
The important details are as follows…
– 21k Medium Nib
– New Condition
– Sailor Presentation Box
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
