Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Platinum Izumo Urushi Biwatame Fountain Pen, which comes with its wooden Platinum presentation box (including outer), pen kimono and information leaflets. The pen has been carefully used and is presented in overall excellent condtion.

The Izumo is crafted from ebonite, which then has five coats of Urushi lacquer applied on top. Following this, three coats of wax-polish are applied, rubbed with pulp paper and then oil polished. The Biwatame name refers to a brown algae, with the base tone of yellow being visble at the edges of the cap, barrel and section… this base colour becomes more visible with the passing of time.

The pen is fitted with an 18k fine nib and being a cartridge / converter (supplied), you’ve the best of both worlds when it comes to ink.
