Description
Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this very rare Pelikan Souveran M1000 Maiko in Kyoto Maki-e Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with its wooden Pelikan presentation box (including outer) and certificate. The pen has never been used and is presented in essentially as new condition. Only 88 were produced and this is number 58.
Released in 2010, the pen is part of the ever wonderful M1000 Maki-e series. The ‘Maiko in Kyoto’ uses Kaga Togidashi and Taka-Maki-e technieques. The barrel shows a young woman standing on a stone pavement amidst tumbling cherry blossom perals. A ‘Maiko’ is an apprentice Geisha and the woman is dresssed in her traditional costume. In the background the historical five-storied pagoda, found in Kyoto, can be seen. The limitation number can be found on the cap.
One of the fantastic features of Pelikan pens is that the nib unit can be unscrewed – this makes it both incredibly simple to clean and you can also change nibs in seconds!
The M1000 is a piston filling pen, so the choice here is bottled ink. It’s fitted with an 18C medium nib.
The important details are as follows…
– 18c Medium Nib
– Piston Filling System
– Pelikan Presentation Box
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
