Description
Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this wonderful Ohashido Red Lacquer Cranes Fountain Pen, which comes with uts wooden presentation box, booklet and dropper. The pen has been carefully used over the years and is presented in lovely condition.
Ohashido are a Japanese pen maker with a long history, having been founded in 1912. The older pens were produced by hand using a foot-operated lathe. It’s difficult to date their pens but the previous owner was told that it was produced in the 1960’s by the legendary master pen marker Eiichi Uehara.
The pen is crafted from black ebonite, which is then coated in Negoro urushi lacquer – the urushi is then polished off in several places to create the delightful crane pattern.
The pen is fitted with a medium (likely, although it’s not stamped on the nib) 14k nib and it’s an eye-dropper, so your choice here is bottled ink.
The important details are as follows…
Condition: Lovely
Box: Ohashido
Nib: Medium (there is no nib marking to confirm this)
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
