Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this glorious Namiki Emperor Chinkin Tiger Fountain Pen, which comes with its large wooden Namiki presentation box (including outer), bottle of ink and dropper. The pen has never been used and is presented in essentially as new condition.
The Emperor in standard Urushi form is a stunning and huge writing instrument, but this Chinkin Tiger version is truly a sight to behod.
Created by artisan Yasuji, the pen depicts a Tiger descending a cliff, surrounded by Bamboo. This particular version of the Emperor Chinkin was first introduced in 2009.
Chinkin is a technique where a suface is coated with lacquer and the design is carved on to the surface of the lacquer, with a very fine tool – precious metal leaf and powder is then inlayed in to the cut patterns. Unlike Maki-e techniques, once the design has been started, any mistakes cannot be rectified, so a huge amount of skill and patience is required.
The pen is fitted with a mighty #50 18k medium nib and it’s an eye-dropper, so your choice here is bottled ink.
The important details are as follows…
– Essentially As New Condition
– Medium Nib
– Namiki Presentation Box
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
