Namiki Chinkin Crane Fountain Pen – UNUSED

Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this glorious Namiki Chinkin Crane Fountain Pen, which comes with its large wooden Namiki presentation box, bottle of ink, CD and information booklet. The pen has never been used and is presented in essentially as new condition.

The Chinkin Crane is a wonderfully detailed writing instrument. Chinkin is a technique where a suface is coated with lacquer and the design is carved on to the surface of the lacquer, with a very fine tool – precious metal leaf and powder is then inlayed in to the cut patterns. Unlike Maki-e techniques, once the design has been started, any mistakes cannot be rectified, so a huge amount of skill and patience is required. The trim is gold-plated.

The pen is fitted with an 18k fine nib and it’s a cartridge / converter (supplied) so you have the best of both worlds when it comes to ink.
