Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this wonderful Nakaya Portable Cigar Ishime-Kanshitsu Midori Fountain Pen, which comes with its Nakaya wooden presentation box (including outer) and pen kimono. The pen has never been used and is presented in essentially as new condition.

Nakaya require no introduction and if you’ve got this far then likely you’ll be familiar with their wonderful writing instruments. Ishime-Kanshitsu Midori is a fascinating finish. Turned from solid ebonite stock, it’s then has multiple layers of urushi lacquer applied. To create the textured effect, urushi powder is sprinkled on to the surface, whch once dried is then varnished with several further layers of lacquer to harden the finish. The grains are then sharpened with charcoal and finished with a silver lacquer. The workmanship has to be seen to be truly appreciated. The ‘Ishi’ element of the name translates to ‘a stone’ in Japanese.

The pen is fitted with a 14k medium nib and it’s a cartridge / converter pen (supplied), so your choice here is bottled ink.
