Montegrappa Series 402 Sterling Silver 1055VI Fountain Pen and Ballpoint Pen Set

1 in stock

Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this lovely Montegrappa Series 402 Sterling Silver Fountain Pen and Ballpoint Pen Set, which comes with its Montegrappa presentation box and information booklet. Both pens have been carefully used over the years and are presented in overall lovely condition – there is some wear to the vermeil on the main cap bands, mostly on the ballpoint, and this is shown in the photos.

The 300 and 400 series were discontinued in the early 1990’s and are now difficult to find in good condition. This was the flagship version of the 402, with both pens being crafted from sterling silver and featuring a CANOVA guilloche design on the barrel and cap – the trim is vermeil, so gold-plating over silver. The pens have the 1055 VI hallmark, which indicates that it was produced by the older Aquila owned company, prior to them selling to Richemont. The newer Aquila pens have a 2670 VI hallmark.

The 402 was based on a model from the 1930’s and they’re incredibly comfortable writing instruments to use, even for longer writing sessions.

The pen is fitted with an 18k fine nib and it’s a cartridge / converter (not supplied), so you have the best of both worlds when it comes to ink.

Condition: Lovely

Box: Montegrappa

Nib: Fine

With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
