Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Writers Edition Franz Kafka Fountain Pen, which comes with its Montbanc presentation box (including outers) and unstamped booklet. The pen remains sealed in its presentation box, we’ve also included photos from another example that we’ve previously sold, so that you can see a few of the finer details. Only 18500 pens were produced and this is number 08680.

 

 

 

Every year Montblanc honour a great literary figure, as part of their writers limited edition. In 2004 it was Franz Kafka.

 

 

 

The barrel and cap are crafted from a semi-transparent dark red resin, with the trim being sterling silver. The design is inspired by his most famous work “The Metamorphosis”, with the the tapered barrel making this one of the most interesting designs from the series.

 

 

 

The pen is fitted with an 18k broad nib, which features an engraving of a cockroach. Due to the shape of the barrel, the pen is fitted with a captive converter, so your choice here is bottled ink.
