Montblanc Patron of Art Ludwig II 4810 Fountain Pen

Out of stock

Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Patron of Art 4810 Ludwig II Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with it’s large presentation box (including outer) and information booklets – confirming first purchase on 9th October 2019. The pen was only inked once to test and is presented in virtually as new condition. Only 4810 were produced and this is number 4673.

In 2018, Montblanc honoured Ludwig II, the King of Bavaria from 1864 – 1886.

Known as the Swan King or the Fairy Tale King, he had a penchant for elaborate castles and created three architectural masterpieces – Linderhof, Herrenchiemsee and Neushwanstein. The swan became his royal emblem, hence the Champagne-tone gold-plated clip resembling the shape of a swan.

The white lacquered cap has a guilloche feather design, with the blue lacquered barrel was chosen to represent the colour of his robes. The piston cone is shaped like a turret from Neuschwanstein and the nib is also engraved with the outline of the castle. On the cap ring can be found references to Wagner’s Lohengrin’.

The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.

With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
