Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Patron of Art 4810 Homage to Moctezuma I Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with it’s large presentation box (including outers) and stamped information booklet – confirming first purchase on 13th June 2020. The pen has barely been used and is presented in wonderful condition (the protective tape remains on the grip section and cone) – there is a small chip on the presentation box. Only 4810 were produced and this is number 0034 (a great low number!).
In 2020, Montblanc honoured the ruler of the Aztec Empire, Moctezuma I. He was crowned ruler in 1440 and was responsible for the golden age of the Aztecs.
The design of the pen is extremely richly detailed, with the shape being based on an Atlatl (a spear thrower). The cone, with it’s impressive hammered finish, takes its inspration from an Aztec sacrificial knife, with an obsidian blade. The colourscheme of red and turquoise reflect those on the royal cloak.
The two hieroglyphs found on the cap, symbolise the years of Moctezuma I’s reign.
The 18k extra fine nib has a fine engraving of a bent nail, which was the lucky charm that he always went on stage with. It’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.

With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
