Description
Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Patron of Art 4810 Catherine The Great Fountain Pen, which comes with its lacquered presentation box (including outers). As with other POA pens, only 4810 were produced and this is number 3746. The pen was only dipped to test and is presented in virtually as new condition – some tiny marks to the top of the box, which we’ve tried to capture in the photos.
In 1997, Montblanc honoured Catherine the Great, the Russian Tsarina. The pen is crafted from a deep purple, aubergine toned resin, which then has rose-gold plated fretwork on top – it features blossom wreath motifs. Catherine was responsible for the construction of the Hermitage winter palace in St. Petersburg and in her time she corresponded with Voltaire, Diderot and d’Alembert.
The 18k medium nib features an engraving of the two-headed eagle, which is the symbol of the Russian monarchy. It’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.

Limitation Number present
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
