Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this stunning Montblanc Meisterstück 149 UNICEF Skeleton Fountain Pen, which comes with its large Montblanc presentation box (including outers) and unstamped service guide. The pen has only been used a handful of times and is presented in wonderful condition – the protective tape can still be found on the grip section. The original owner sent it to Hamburg to have the medium nib exchanged for an extra fine (EF).
The Montblanc and UNICEF collaboration is one that stretches back to 2004 and this Skeleton version is arguably the pinnacle of their collaboration. It was part of the 2017 offering and features a platinum-coated skeletonised barrel and cap, with the first letters that children around the world learn to write.
The translucent blue resin continues the wonderful line of blue skeletons, including the Blue Hour and BMW. The workmanship involved in creating this writing instrument is simply incredible, with all the letters on the skeletonised elements being hand-polished. The snowcap is crafted from mother-of-pearl with the surround being produced from onyx.
The pen is fitted with a 18k extra fine nib and being a 149, this is a piston filling pen, so bottled ink is your choice here. The white-gold nib features the same letters used on the barrel.
