Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Meisterstuck 147 Traveller 75th Anniversary Special Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with its Montblanc presentation box. The pen has barely been used and is presented in wonderful condition.

 

 

 

The 147 Traveller, if you’re not familiar with it, is a LeGrand (146) sized fountain pen, but the filling system is cartridge only. It’s a very clever design, as to load the cartridges you simply unscrew the end of the pen, which then reveals an internal metal holding cage, where you can then slot in the cartridges.

 

 

 

The 75th anniversary writing instruments were released in 1999 to commemorate 75 years of the Meisterstuck range (launched in 1924). There were two main editions available of most models, one being the unlimited yellow gold ‘special edition’ pens and then the rose gold ‘limited edition’ pens, of which only 1924 examples were produced. This is the yellow gold special edition version.

 

 

 

To distinguish these anniversary editions from the usual offerings, you’ll find a second gold band around the top of the clip, in which is mounted a diamond and the inscription ’75 years of passion and soul’ – with the diamond being the ‘o’ in passion.

 

 

 

The clip ring features both serial number and Germany markings.

 

 

 

The pen is fitted with a 14k broad bi-tone nib and it’s a cartridge only filler. The sticker on the outside of the box mentions a medium nib, so likely this was swapped to a broad at the point of first purchase.
