Description
Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Meisterstück 146 LeGrand Czar Nikolai I Vermeil Fountain Pen, which comes with its Montblanc presentation box (including outer), unstamped booklets and polishing cloths. The pen has never been used and is presented in essentially as new condition – the M sticker, denoting a medium nib, remains on the barrel.
The Czar Nikolai writing instruments are one of the most famous offerings from the past 30 years and were produced from 1997-2002.
They were available in two versions, vermeil and platinum plated. This is the vermeil (gold-plated over sterling silver) version and when contrasted with the vibrant green malachite cap, it really is a very striking writing instrument. Malachite was chosen for this pen because it was the stone of the Russian Czars. The intricate detailing is beautiful and the gold-plated barrel and trim provide a brightness but at the same time never a brash look. The appropriate Germany and serial number markings can be found on the clip ring.
The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.

Essentially As New Condition
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
