Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Meisterstück 146 LeGrand Czar Nikolai I Platinum-Plated Fountain Pen, which comes with its large Montblanc presentation box (including outer), information booklets and stamped service guide – confirming first purchase on 13th September 2001. The pen has never been used and is presented in virtually as new condition.

The Czar Nikolai writing instruments are one of the most famous offerings from the past 30 years and were produced from 1997-2002.

They were available in two versions, vermeil and platinum plated. This is the platinum-plated version and when contrasted with the vibrant green malachite cap, it really is a writing instrument. Malachite was chosen for this pen because it was the stone of the Russian Czars. The intricate detailing is beautiful and the platinum plated barrel and trim provide a brightness but at the same time never a brash look. The appropriate Germany and serial number markings can be found on the clip ring.

The pen is fitted with an 18k fine nib and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.

With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
