Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 LeGrand AG925 Solitaire Barley Fountain Pen

Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this wonderful Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 LeGrand AG925 Solitaire Barleycorn Fountain Pen, which comes with a Montblanc presentation box and unstamped paperwork. The pen has been carefully used and is presented in overall lovely condition – there is a very small ding on the cap, where the clip was positioned for many years. We’ve moved the clip back to its correct place, but we can adjust it to cover the ding instead if you’d like.

We’ve serviced the piston filling mechanism and ultrasonically cleaned the pen, so it’s ready for many years of happy writing!

This particular pen is the barley version, with both the cap and barrel being produced from AG925 Sterling Silver – which is then engraved with an intricate barleycorn pattern. This is an interesting pen, because it was produced during a period of many changes to the 146 and as with others of this era, it’s common to find a selection of both new and old style. The old style elements being the grey ink window (rather than the modern striped) and split ebonite feed. The modern element being the 18k bi-tone nib (extra fine!).

This is relatively simple pen to date, as it features W.Germany markings but no serial number. On it’s own, this doesn’t help a huge amount, but as it has the current style nib, this should place it at pretty much 1990.

These earlier style Solitaire pens are absolutely beautiful and have a level of detail that you simply don’t find on their modern counterparts.

The important details are as follows…

-18K Bi-Tone Extra Fine Nib

– Piston Filling Mechanism

– W. Germany markings present

– Lovely Condition

With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
