Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 LeGrand AG925 Solitaire Pinstripe Fountain Pen, which comes with its Montblanc presentation box (some light marks to this) and information booklet. The pen has been lightly used and is presented in excellent condition.
This particular pen is the pinstripe version, with both the cap and barrel being produced from AG925 Sterling Silver – which is then engraved with an intricate pinstripe pattern. These earlier style Solitaire pens are absolutely beautiful and have a level of detail that you simply don’t find on their modern counterparts.
This example has an interesting place in Montblanc history, with it straddling the two production periods and having features from both. The early 80s style features include the solid ink window and split ebonite feed, with the nib being the latter bi-tone version. The clip ring features the first generation serial number (shorter and in a different font) along with W.Germany markings. Taking all this in to account, we’d date it to 1991.
The pen is fitted with an 18k bi-tone fine nib and is a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink. We’ve serviced the piston mechanism, so it’s very smooth.
The important details are as follows…
– Excellent Condition
– W.Germany and serial number markings present
– Montblanc Presentation Box
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
