Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this rare Montblanc Imperial Dragon Limited Edition Fountain Pen, Mechanical Pencil and Ballpoint Pen Set. It comes with its two book style Montblanc presentation boxes (including outers – some wear to these). All three of the writing instruments have never been used and are presented in wonderful condition. Only 1,500 sets were produced and these all have the matching limitation number of 1355. The M sticker, confirming a medium nib, can still be found on the barrel of the fountain pen.
Released in 1993, alongside the Agatha Christie, the Imperial Dragon has become one of the most collectable and sought after Montblanc offerings.
The Imperial Dragon is essentially a version of the Agatha Christie, which was created specifically for Asian markets. This was because the serpent is considered an unpopular creature, so instead the clip takes the shape of a dragon.
Both the clip and trim is crafted from sterling silver, with the barrel and cap then being produced from the traditional black precious resin. The Dragon’s eyes are set with rubies and the detailing is wonderful.
The 18k medium nib on the fountain pen features an engraving of a dragons head and this is a piston filling pen, so bottled ink is your choice here.
The important details are as follows…
Number: FP – 1355 / 5000, BP – 1355 / 3500, MP – 1355 / 1500
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
This set is ready for many years of use or simply to be tucked away as part of a wider collection. The value of these appears to be on a steady increase, so this represents a great opportunity to purchase a unused, matching set at a very favourable price.
