Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this legendary Montblanc Great Characters Leonardo da Vinci 3000 Limited Edition Fountain Pen, which comes with a standard Montblanc presentation box (including outer). The pen has been lightly used and is presented in overall fantastic condition. Only 3000 examples were produced and this is number 1676.

The Great Characters series has seen many famous names honoured by Montblanc and the Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most sought-after. The design of the pen takes its inspiration from the various flying devices that he proposed and studied.

The polished platinum-plated fittings are reproductions of da Vinci’s studies of wedge connections, with the shape of the cone referring to the double movement transmission conceptualized by da Vinci over 500 years ago. The red gold-plated gear at the end of the clip is reminiscent of the many cogwheels the Italian master used in his designs. A nod to his love of mirror writing is the Montblanc snowcap concealed inside the cap, which is reflected on the mirror inside the cap top.

The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
