Montblanc Great Characters John F. Kennedy JFK 1917 LE Fountain Pen

Thanks for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Great Characters Limited Edition John F. Kennedy 1917 Fountain Pen, which comes with its large Montblanc presentation box (including outer), book of quotes and stamped booklet – confirming first purchase on 8th December 2014. The pen has been carefully used and is presented in overall fantastic condition – the protective tape remains on the grip section.

The Great Characters range was first launched in 2009 and has honoured names including Miles Davis, Andy Warhol and Albert Einstein. The JFK offerings included both special edition and limited edition pens. This listing is for the absolutely stunning limited edition fountain pen, of which only 1917 (his birth year) examples were produced. This particular pen is number 0437/1917.

John F Kennedy requires no introduction and is probably one of the most famous figures in recent history. This pen includes so many nods to both his passions and career – one of his biggest loves was sailing and the surface of the pen evokes the boats rigging. The Naval Star that adorns the cone of the barrel is a nod to his time in the US Navy, as are the colours red, white and blue. The engraving round the cap ring is taken from his successful 1960 presidential campaign – “a time for greatness” and his iconic initials, JFK, can be found on the clip.

The finishing touch is the snowcap logo being crafted from moon quartz, which elevates the usual look of the resin version to a completely different level. We encounter thousands of pens each year, but there are some which you can’t help but smile at… this is one of them, it’s absolutely fantastic in every way. A substantial pen, which is a joy to write with or simply tucked away as part of a wider collection.

The usual markings are present with the limitation number being found on the main cap ring. The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib and it’s a piston filler, so your choice here is bottled ink.
