Thanks very much for looking at our listing for this Montblanc Writers Limited Edition George Bernard Shaw Fountain Pen, which comes with a standard Montblanc presentation box (including outer). The pen has never been used and is presented in excellent condition – the M sticker, confirming a medium nib, can still be found on the piston cone. Only 16000 were produced and this is number 01347.
Every year Montblanc honour a great literary figure, as part of their writers limited edition. In 2008 it was George Bernard Shaw, the Irish freethinker. The pen is inspired by the character Eliza Doolittle from his most famous play Pygmalion. Just as Eliza, a poor flower girl, is brought up to be an aristocratic lady, so the platinum trim on the pen is replaced more and more towards the cap by the opulent dark green of the precious resin.
The beautiful deep marbled green represents the lush fields that Shaw left behind in Ireland. This is one of the most eye-catching of all the Writers Editions and will be a fine addition to any collection.
The pen is fitted with an 18k medium nib with a fine engraving of a flower. Being a piston filler, your choice here is bottled ink.
The important details are as follows…
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller. As the Financial Times said recently in their How To Spend It publication – “izods is an e-cache of ultra fine fountain pens”.
