Montblanc Soulmakers 100 Mammoth Solid Yellow Gold Limited Edition Fountain Pen. This is an exceptionally rare pen, with only 100 examples having been produced and this is number 014. The original owner was a serious collector, who sadly happened to lose a number of the boxes and paperwork for his writing instrument collection during a European house move (the pens themselves were kept in a locked Montblanc collectors box). We’ve included one of the Soulmakers boxes from the standard special edition, so the pen now has a new home. The pen has just returned from Montblanc in Hamburg where it was fully serviced – the paperwork will be included for the purchaser.
The Soulmakers pens were released in 2006 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Montblanc. They include many versions, ranging from this outstanding writing instrument, all the way through to special edition Starwalkers. There are so many detailed design elements to this pen, that it really has to be seen to be fully appreciated – the Mammoth pens feature panels on the barrel and cap which are made from actual wooly mammoth ivory inlayed along the length of the pen. The design on the solid yellow gold is that of the Montblanc logo being overlapped and it really does create a stunning appearance. The Montblanc snow cap logo is replaced this time with a vast shimmering diamond floating atop the pen in clear resin. The correct hallmarks and limitation number can be found on the top of the cap.
The pen is around the same size as the 146 LeGrand and features the same piston filling system, which is smooth and fills the reservoir as you’d expect. This example is fitted with a glorious 18k medium nib, with the correct Soulmakers engraving and date. The overall condition is excellent – it was used very carefully by its original owner, so there are light signs of use but overall an absolutely beautiful pen. There is a darker area to a small portion of one area of the mammoth inlays (shown in image two), but that’s being very picky. We asked Montblanc to carry out all work that was necessary during the service and they reported no issues with the mammoth inlays.
The important details are as follows…

With these pens being virtually impossible to find, this represents a fantastic opportunity to purchase a lovely example at a very keen price and from a trusted seller.
