Montblanc Meisterstück Solitaire Doue (Gold) Pinstripe 144 Classique Fountain Pen, which comes with its Montblanc presentation box (including black outer – some signs of wear) and unstamped service guide. The pen appears to have barely been used, if at all, and as such is presented in beautiful condition. The M sticker confirming a medium 18k nib can still be found on the barrel.
As mentioned, this particular pen is the much rarer solitaire gold version, with the cap being solid brass which was then gold plated… these pens came later in the production cycle at around the early 2000’s. In my opinion these solitaire doue pens elevate the usual look of the standard resin offerings to another level. The intricate pinstripe detailing is beautiful and the gold trim provides a brightness but at the same time never a brash look.
The appropriate Germany and serial number markings can be found on the clip ring, along with the word METAL2 which was used by Montblanc for Doue and Solitaire pens. You’ll find these on several Montblanc pens including the Nikolai. The number ranged from 1-8 depending on the colour of the gold being used.
Being a 144, this is a cartridge / converter (supplied) pen, so you have the best of both worlds.
