Montblanc 246G Black Celluloid Fountain Pen, which comes with an izods presentation box. The pen was previously owned by a very serious collector of Montblanc vintage pens and he purchased it restored on penboard.de from the legend that is Max Schrage (Maxpens).
The overall condition is extremely good and having been restored it’s now ready for many years of happy writing. The 246 pens were produced during the late 1940’s and in to the 1950’s. .The 24x series was available in three sizes, the 242 (smallest), 244 (middle) and then the largest of the three, the 246. The addition of the G comes from the German word ‘Glatt’ meaning smooth – this was to do with the finish of the pen, so on this one it’s the smooth black celluloid.
This is a piston filling pen and to operate it you simply unscrew the blind cap and then turn the small screw. The blind cap features the markings 246G and F, although I’d suggest that the nib may have been exchanged at some point as this appears to be more towards a broad. It’s a glorious 14c monotone example and it’s a beauty to write with.
The important details are as follows…
– Broad Nib
– Piston Filling System
– Black Celluloid
– izods presentation box
With every pen that we sell we provide a card that includes the manufacturer, model, serial / limitation number and date it was purchased from us. We do this because our customers like to have documentation showing that it’s been purchased from a trusted seller.
